Huzzah for the Union!
2014 is shaping up to be another FANTASTIC year. As the 150th Anniversary of 1864, there are many major events available nationwide! Having just returned from the SUVCW Dept. of California & the Pacific Encampment in Sacramento, CA, I am working with several groups to plan this years events. The DPFB is getting ready for Spring training at our annual Tactical, this year in Gardnerville, NV. we also have upcoming events at Alcatraz Island in San Francisco Bay; Hawthorne, NV; Graeagle, CA; Reno, NV; Nashville, TN; Fort Churchill, NV; and the 150th Birthday of Nevada Parade in Carson City. In addition to my National "Silver Star" Meritorious Service Award by the Sons of Veterans Reserve at Remembrance Day 2013; I was pleased to be offered the position of Chief of Staff with the 6th Military District, SVR. This will no way impact my assignments as Commander of the Department of the Pacific, Federal Battalion; Battery A, 3rd United States Artillery; or Battery B, 1st New Jersey Light Artillery.
In addition to my portrayal of Major General John G. Foster in the group Lincoln's Generals, I was honored to be asked to portray Major General James H. Wilson of Wilson's Cavalry Corps for some upcoming midwest events with the group Armies of the West.
On a more personal note, I am pleased to be completing my Graduate Program in Civil War History through American Military University in April 2014. I am also in my last class for my Doctorate Degree in Business and plan on starting my dissertation in May 2014 with the ultimate goal of returning to serve as a University Professor with a significant change of programs. After 20 years teaching Fire science/Haz Mat/Fire Administration/Homeland Security, it will be time for another 20 years of teaching the history of the American Civil War.
Naturally, all of this would not be possible without the tremendous support I receive from my wife, Suzette!
Thanks for following my Civil War exploits!

Just returned from the Gettysburg Anniversary Committee 150th Reenactment. What a great event! I had the opportunity to serve as a 1st Lieutenant with the 3rd PA Cavalry and brought along five other reenactors/living hisotians from Northern Nevada. Managed to get a little time on the Battlefield and took an interesting picture of some type of paranormal activity at the Battery B, 1st New Jersey Light Artillery marker on Hancock Ave.
Spent time with Major General John G. Foster and Lincoln's Generals. Was able to participate in the Living History area as a Staff Major and of course visited the New Jersey Artillery monuments. Met some Brother Master Masons, both in camp and "on the wall" during Pickett's Charge.
The remainder of 2013 have me as Union Army Commander at Gardnerville and Fort Churchill, NV in the fall. Looking forward to those events.

2013 marks the 150th anniversary of the American Civil War, year 1863. Obviously, this year's big draw will be the 150th Gettysburg. There will actually be TWO Gettysburg events in 2013, due to the politics inherent in the reenacting community. Personally, I am making an effort to participate and support both events. For more information, visit:
In either case, we will be honoring those brave men (and women) that fought and died at Gettysburg. I have the honor of taking a Company of Dismounted Cavalry from Nevada for the GAC event, the 3rd PA Cavalry.
See you in Gettysburg!
Additionally, we will be holding several important events in Nevada. Visit our Nevada Civil War 150 page for additional information.
